Austin Dachshund Puppy Purchase Agreement
1. Health & Wellness Guarantee
At Austin Dachshund, the health and well-being of every puppy we place with a family is extremely important to us. Puppies receive age-appropriate veterinary care, vaccinations, deworming, and routine wellness attention before going to their new homes.
Our health guarantee is intended to provide families with clear information and confidence when welcoming an Austin Dachshund puppy.
a. Initial Veterinary Examination
The Buyer agrees to have the puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within seven (7) days of receiving the puppy.
If a licensed veterinarian determines that the puppy has a serious illness or congenital condition that was present before the puppy was delivered, the Buyer must provide appropriate veterinary documentation and follow the requirements of this agreement.
Any applicable remedy will be determined according to the terms of the written health guarantee and applicable law.
b. Genetic Health Coverage
Austin Dachshund provides coverage for qualifying, life-threatening hereditary conditions according to the terms and duration specified in the written health guarantee.
If a condition believed to qualify under the guarantee is diagnosed, the Buyer may be required to obtain documentation or an evaluation from two licensed veterinarians, as applicable.
When a covered hereditary condition is confirmed and all guarantee requirements have been satisfied, Austin Dachshund may provide one of the remedies specified in the health guarantee, which may include:
-
Replacement with a puppy of comparable value, subject to availability; or
-
Refund of the applicable purchase price, according to the written guarantee.
All claims must be supported by appropriate veterinary documentation and comply with the applicable terms of the health guarantee.
c. Communicable Illness
If a licensed veterinarian diagnoses the puppy with a qualifying communicable disease within fourteen (14) days after delivery, the Buyer should notify Austin Dachshund promptly and provide supporting veterinary documentation.
Any refund, replacement, or other remedy will be handled according to the written health guarantee and applicable law.
2. Transportation & Delivery
a. Puppy Transportation
When a Buyer requests transportation rather than in-person pickup, the Buyer is responsible for applicable transportation and travel expenses unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Austin Dachshund will provide available transportation information and help coordinate appropriate arrangements when possible. Travel arrangements, timing, costs, and requirements will be communicated to the Buyer before the puppy's departure.
b. In-Person Pickup
Families choosing to pick up their puppy in person must complete the reservation process and pay the required $475 non-refundable deposit to secure the selected puppy.
The remaining purchase balance is due in full at the time of pickup unless different payment arrangements have been agreed upon in writing.
3. Purchase Price & Payment
The total purchase price must be paid in full before the puppy is released to the Buyer.
A $475 non-refundable reservation deposit is required to reserve a puppy for in-person pickup, unless otherwise stated in writing.
The deposit will be applied toward the agreed purchase price. The remaining balance must be paid according to the payment terms provided by Austin Dachshund.
A puppy will not be released until all required payments have been received and cleared.
4. Buyer's Responsibilities
By purchasing an Austin Dachshund puppy, the Buyer agrees to provide a safe, caring, and appropriate environment throughout the dog's life.
The Buyer is responsible for providing:
-
High-quality, age-appropriate nutrition and fresh drinking water
-
A safe and comfortable living environment
-
Regular exercise appropriate for the puppy's age and physical needs
-
Routine veterinary examinations and preventative care
-
Required vaccinations and parasite prevention
-
Appropriate training and positive socialization
-
Safe companionship, supervision, and daily interaction
-
Prompt veterinary attention when illness or injury is suspected
-
Compliance with applicable state, county, and local pet ownership requirements
The Buyer understands that maintaining a puppy's health requires ongoing veterinary care, responsible nutrition, appropriate exercise, training, and attentive ownership.
Because Dachshunds have a distinctive long-backed body structure, owners should also discuss appropriate exercise, weight management, jumping, and back-care practices with their veterinarian.
5. Agreement & Acknowledgment
This agreement, together with any applicable written health guarantee and puppy-specific purchase documentation, represents the understanding between Austin Dachshund and the Buyer concerning the purchase of the puppy.
Any changes to the agreement should be made in writing and acknowledged by both parties.
By completing the purchase, the Buyer confirms that they have had an opportunity to review the agreement, understand its provisions, and agree to comply with the responsibilities described within it.
The Buyer also acknowledges that a puppy is a long-term commitment and agrees to provide appropriate care, attention, veterinary treatment, and companionship throughout the dog's life.
Our Commitment to Every Puppy Family
At Austin Dachshund, we believe bringing home a puppy should be the beginning of a positive and lasting relationship.
Our goal is to provide clear information, responsible care, honest communication, and support as your new Dachshund becomes part of your family.
